I'm glad to see Katriona working the classiest London venues (and of course they're
fortunate in getting such an attractive performer to visit!!). Campbell Burnap.
London born and bred, Katriona grew up with a love of music and tennis (her father is former UK and International tennis champion Roger Taylor). Seeking intellectual fulfilment Katriona qualified and practised as a lawyer, before her love of music enticed her to forge a new career as a full time singer after gaining a postgraduate diploma in acting and singing at London's prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama. Jazz is her passion and you can't help being moved by her voice.
Katriona is a singer/songwriter whose music is soulful and evocative, with strong melodies and tender lyrics. Katriona who cites Nina Simone, Diana Krall, Astrud Gilberto and Carole King as influences, excels in high quality entertainment that appeals to a wide range of audiences. She performs jazz standards, latin, funk, soul and her original songs as well as creative re-workings of classic standards and pop songs. As an arranger, Katriona has a remarkable knack for making the old classics sound like new ones, without losing the essence of the songs.
This singer's strength lies in her versatility. Her distinctive vocals allow her to sing different genre's side by side and do them equal justice.
A singer with an established reputation for live performance, Katriona regularly sells out top London Live venues such as Pizza Express Jazz Club in Dean St., The Bull's Head Jazz Club, Pizza on the Park Jazz Club and performs at prestigious UK Music Festivals such as The Edinburgh Fringe, Henley Festival and Chelsea Festival. In 2006 she opened for George Benson on the Portugal leg of his world tour to an audience of thousands. Her confidence and talent have established Katriona's solid reputation internationally, on the UK Jazz scene and as a songwriter/musician.
